me and my son have a double horse apache helicopter. flying it the other day it hit a tree branch lol. now the motor doesn't seem to turn. light on bottom works fine. any suggestions? i think the circuit board is done. any help would be greatly appreciated as we are just getting into the rc scene.

Does the motor turn easy by hand? Also check the wiring to the motor, they could of popped off during the crash. Is it a brushed or brushless motor?

rotors turn easily by hand with no problem, also all wiring is in tac that i know of, i took it apart to check. as far as it being a brush or brushless don't know, i do knoe that it has two motors, one for the bottom rotor and one for the top rotor.

Hi Rob, I'll jump in here if I may, try applying power directly to the the motors and see if the motors are working by themselves and work your way back from there, you may have damaged a the electronic controls when it hit the tree by loosening something on the board or burning out the speed control if the motors were still trying to turn while being held back by some obstruction.

If you are lucky they may be a fuse in the circuit somewhere, but that is highly unlikely.

thanks glen that sounds like a good idea, is it simple or are we talking about cutting the wires on the board to apply power? we are new to this and are not very rc savy lol. couple of other notes do u know where we can get parts, such as circuit boards new or used and i feel the same about the board. also i was tapping the board the other night and the helli just started and took off but didn't last too long. any other thoughts let me know thanks

Rob you can try and apply power to the motor(s) if you can get right at them and go directly to leads on the motor(s),it would be best if you don't have to cut anything. Although when you mentioned tapping the heli and it started up it does sound like a bad circuit, and sometimes it doesn't take much to hurt those boards, if it is a less expensive model you will probably not have much luck getting parts but all you can do is try. I don't want to put down the less expensive equipment down but the problem is trying to get support and parts for them where as the better equipment has parts available as well as technical support to back up their products. I have listed three links for you to check out, these are all very reputable stores with people that know about R/C and they may be able to help out.

thanks glenn i will check those websites or stores out for parts. as for ir being less expense models i wanted to start out with something small to see if my son wanted to get into it. nothing like spending big money on something then not having the intrest for it. maybe we'll come check u guys out on thurs night at the b street field is it stil 5-7pm? thanks for all your help rob

 Smiley Hi Rob, I understand the financial aspect I didn't want to insult you, I just wanted to let you know that parts may not be available for that particular type.

Yes we are still around on Tues., and Thurs. evenings as long as the weather cooperates, it has been a little chilly the past couple of nights but you are welcome to stop by anytime the gate is open.

hi glenn, no problem i'm not insulted i know you get what u pay for. it may look like if we can't get parts maybe we can get a better one. do u think ready to fly or not ready to fly (ie u have to build it or assemble it is best?) i would really like to bring my son by to one of your training and if likes it perhaps joining the club. anyway thanks for your help and perhaps we'll see you guys next week.

 Wink Rob, as far as which one to get, that all depends on how mechanically inclined you are and wether or not you are comfortable with assembling, and also how much time you want to put into it.
