P40_COMPLETE_1_AND_2_002.jpg
P40_COMPLETE_1_AND_2_002.jpg96 viewsTop Flite P-40 is ready for test flights and motor break in, had a hard time with teeth decals but plan on ordering another set and make them look a liitle better. After 5 long years this baby is ready to take to the sky. It is a little heavy at 9 1/2 lbs but it should fly true to scale, the hardest part will be for me, no unlimited vertical, no knife edge passes, this may take some getting used to.

P_40_IN_PROGRESS_12-08-07_001.jpg87 viewsTop Flite P-40 Warhawk, this project has been off and on for the past 5 years, hopefully it will be done by next spring, but I can't guaruntee anything.
P-40_COMPLETE_THE_SECOND_TIME_AS_OF_10-27-08.jpg
P-40_COMPLETE_THE_SECOND_TIME_AS_OF_10-27-08.jpg61 viewsTop Flite Gold Edition Kit (.60 size) powered with AN O.S. 91 FX for some additional power, a .61 FX just didn't have enough power. This P-40 has split flaps, rotating retractable landing gear, a releasable spare fuel tank and weighs about 9lbs. My first attempt at flying this WWII aircraft was a humbling and learning experience and I hope I have learned a lesson or 2 since then, when flying this aircraft one should never attempt to put it into a "stall" condition because it cannot recover.

aircraft_photos_012.JPG94 viewsMy P-40 Complete, after a maiden flight disaster and 6 months sitting in the basement it has been rebuilt again and although it is not perfect, it is in fact airworthy again, hopefully lesson learned the first time will improve my odds for the next time.
P-40__complete_the_second_time_2.jpg
P-40__complete_the_second_time_2.jpg49 viewsThe Flying Tigers signature aircraft, I had always wanted to build one of these, after all we are the Flying Tigers R/C Club, aren't we? There were several different color schemes of the P-40, I based mine an a photo I had of a restored P-40, and although it is not perfect at least I hope to display when possible as a representation of the aircraft and the personel that our club is named for.
Warhawk_Revival_has_begun_002.jpg
Warhawk_Revival_has_begun_002.jpg48 viewsThis is just another view of one side of the damaged area of the P-40, if you look closely you can see a new piece of balsa sheeting near the tail, that entire top half of the fuselage had to be replaced, stringers and formers were repaired and reattached, and the entire tailfeathers section was reinstalled in one large piece, and then repaired and re-sheeted as needed.
